1. نقش نگاری کے مطالعہ کے لیے کم وقف، یکے بعد دیگرے آنے والی نسلوں نے سمجھ لیا کہ یہ وسیع نقشہ بیکار تھا اور سورج اور سردی کے موسم کے لیے اسے بے رحمی سے چھوڑ دیا۔

1. less addicted to the study of cartography, succeeding generations understood that this widespread map was useless and with impiety they abandoned it to the inclemencies of the sun and of the winters.

2. بے حسی سر اٹھائے چلتی ہے۔

2. impiety walks with head held high.

3. بے عزتی کے بندھنوں کو آزاد کرو؛

3. release the constraints of impiety;

4. لیکن شاید اب وہ اپنی بے غیرتی کے لیے واقعی مر چکا ہے۔

4. but probably now is really dead for his impiety.

5. شہر کے زوال کا ذمہ دار لوگوں کی بے حیائی کو ٹھہرایا

5. he blamed the fall of the city on the impiety of the people

6. اُنہوں نے کہا، "یہ ہمارے معبودوں کے ساتھ کس نے کیا؟ یہ ضرور ایک ولن ہوگا!

6. they said,"who has done this to our gods? he must indeed be some man of impiety!

7. اسی طرح، پرانی کہاوت میں کہا گیا ہے، 'شریر سے، بدی آئے گی۔

7. so too, it is said in the ancient proverb,‘from the impious, impiety will go forth.

8. پس اے عقلمندو، میری بات سنو: بے دینی خُدا سے دُور ہے، اور بدکاری قادرِ مطلق سے دُور ہے۔

8. therefore, prudent men, hear me: impiety is far from god, and iniquity is far from the almighty.

9. ہمیں بے دینی اور دنیاوی خواہشات کو ترک کرنے کی ہدایت دیتا ہے، تاکہ ہم اس دور میں پرہیزگاری، راستبازی اور دینداری سے زندگی بسر کریں،

9. instructing us to reject impiety and worldly desires, so that we may live soberly and justly and piously in this age,

10. ہمیں بے دینی اور دنیاوی خواہشات کو ترک کرنے کی ہدایت دیتا ہے، تاکہ ہم اس دور میں پرہیزگاری، راستبازی اور دینداری کے ساتھ زندگی بسر کریں،

10. instructing us to reject impiety and worldly desires, so that we may live soberly and justly and piously in this age,

11. in 399bc, at the age of 70, socrates was indicted for offending the olympian gods and thereby breaking the law against impiety.

12. اِس لیے اب ہم مغرور کو مبارک کہتے ہیں، گویا برائی کرنے والے مضبوط ہو گئے، اور گویا اُنہوں نے خُدا کو آزمایا اور نجات پا گئے۔

12. therefore, we now call the arrogant blessed, as if those who work impiety have been built up, and as if they have tempted god and been saved.”.

13. نقشہ نگاری کے مطالعہ کے لیے کم وقف، یکے بعد دیگرے آنے والی نسلوں نے سمجھ لیا کہ یہ وسیع نقشہ بیکار تھا اور بغیر کسی بے ضمیری کے، انہوں نے اسے سورج اور سردیوں کے موسم میں چھوڑ دیا۔

14. جو لوگ ہم سے ملنے سے نہیں ڈرتے وہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہمارے پاس فرشتے کیوں نہیں بھیجے جاتے یا ہم اپنے رب کو کیوں نہیں دیکھتے؟ حقیقت میں، وہ اپنے آپ میں تکبر کرتے ہیں، اور ان کی شرارت کی گستاخی زبردست ہے۔

14. such as fear not the meeting with us(for judgment) say:"why are not the angels sent down to us, or(why) do we not see our lord?" indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety!

15. اور (یہ ایک تنبیہ تھی) جب تم سے کہا گیا کہ دیکھو! آپ کے رب نے انسانیت کو قبول کیا، اور ہم آپ کو انسانیت کے امتحان کے طور پر دکھائے جانے والے نظارے کی طرف اشارہ کرتے ہیں، اور (اسی طرح) قرآن میں ملعون درخت۔ ہم انہیں تنبیہ کرتے ہیں، لیکن اس سے ان کی شدید بے عزتی میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے۔

15. and(it was a warning) when we told thee: lo! thy lord encompasseth mankind, and we appointed the sight which we showed thee as an ordeal for mankind, and(likewise) the accursed tree in the qur'an. we warn them, but it increaseth them in naught save gross impiety.
